Relaxing the body and stilling the mind

To become more aware of our souls inner guidance, we must first learn to relax our body and eventually still our minds. This may take some time and is not easy at first but will come naturally once you are used to it.

Meditation will help and is the way to get your body to relax and your mind to be still.

Once you are able to do this, you will feel more centered, grounded and balanced. Our bodies and mind are always interacting and always busy, so initially, relaxing the body and stilling the mind may be easier said than done, but as mentioned, it is possible and easy.

Through meditation, you will be able to blend your body and mind and you will reach a state of oneness. You will be able to explore your soul further and open up to all your senses.

Here is one way to start to relax your body. Sit down on a chair that is comfortable but with a back. If you prefer, you can sit on the floor in a lotus position but for the beginning, it is best to start on a chair. But do not lie down as you will have a tendency to nod off.

Wear comfortable clothing. Use soothing music if you like, not Slipknot or Nine Inch Nails.

Close your eyes and breathe in slowly. Slow, gentle but deep breaths. Then exhale all your tension out.

Breathe in again ad slowly start wiggling your left toes and breath out all tension from your left toes. Then do the same for the right toes. You can do it in any order, left or right does not matter.

Then move up to your feet, breathe in and move one foot at a time and breathe out any tension on the foot.

Do this for the knees, then the whole leg, one at a time.

Move up to your hips and breathe in and breathe out all the tension in your hips.

Do it for the stomach, then the chest. Then the shoulder, one side of the shoulder at a time.

Do it for the arms, then elbows, then wrists, palms and fingers - one arm at a time. Breathe in and breathe out the tension in each area.

Then move up to the neck, your jaws, your cheeks and your head - one at a time, breathe in gently and breathe out all the tension in those areas.

Finally, imagine right above your head, take a breath in and breathe out all the tension.

Feel the relaxation. Breathe in the pure light and release any tensions. Continue breathing in and breathing out pure light until there is no more tension to release and your body is totally relaxed and enveloped in pure relaxing light.

Continue to do this and let the chatter quiet down.

Now, on your third eye, the place in between your brows, imagine a symbol or a word or an image of your choice. It can be a flower, religious symbol like Om or a Cross, a figure like your guardian, a word even like Love or anything that is pleasing to you.

Imagine this on your third eye. Make this your special symbol for now and focus on it on your third eye without too much strain. Just let it take the course.

If your mind starts to wander, just focus on your gentle deep breathing and then continue to focus on this symbol on your third eye.

While you are completely relaxed, ask your higher self, your divine soul, your guardians and the higher Divine for an answer to a specific question.

You could get a message in any number of ways - it could be an image, colours, pictures, words and even your spiritual guardians could make themselves known to you.

Answers may not come immediately and nor would your guardians, but continue practising and i will come. It may be in a few days, few weeks or it could just be a few seconds.

After a certain time, about 20 to 30 minutes of pure relaxation and stilling your mind, allow yourself to come back to the present.

You could do this automatically with your mind or wiggle your fingers or toes. Allow your eyes to remain closed for a few seconds and when ready, open your eyes and ground your hands by placing the palms of your hands on the ground.

You can even do this meditation at night and you may get your answer in your dream. As such, keep a journal, write down any experience. Your soul, your guardians and the Divine will provide with you the answer.
