About Me

I have done a lot of things in my life and have also worked in many different jobs to make a living and to experience life. This blog is just some of my musings, sometimes funny, sometimes inspirational, sometimes sad, sometimes angry, sometimes simple but all the time, it's just me.

Vision

An excerpt from Alice in Wonderland:

Alice was puzzled. As she searched for a way out of Wonderland, she came to a fork in the road. "Which road should I take?" she asked the Cheshire Cat.

"Where are you going?" the Cat inquired.

Alice said she didn't know.

The smiling cat gave her this reply, "If you do not know where you are going, any road will get you there."

Do you know where you are going and where you want to go?

See that your goals are clearly defined and that you know what it means to perform well. This will give you the clear focus for your energy and put you on the road to becoming high performing, empowered producers. All good performance starts with clear goals.

Also, have a vision, know who you are, where you are going and what will guide your journey to get there.

If you do not know who you are, it does not matter then where you are going or how you will get there.

You need to be clear of your values that will guide our journey and help us make the tough decisions when we hit obstacles.

It takes courage to create a vision but the most courageous person is a leader who acts on the vision.

Or you could have a plaque like most companies and most leaders do and say this is our vision. Two years on, the leader changes or the organization changes and the vision changes and another plaque is made.

Do you know where you are going?

Do you know how you going to get there?

Do you know what will guide your path?

Ask these questions and follow them.

Take care and be well.

A Dog's Purpose?

Taken from a friends FB status.

Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old Irish Wolfhound named Belker. The dog's owners, Ron, his wife Lisa , and their little boy Shane, were all very attached to Belker, and they were hoping for a miracle.

I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the family we couldn't do anything for Belker, and offered to perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home.

As we made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought it would be good for six-year-old Shane to observe the procedure. They felt as though Shane might learn something from the experience.

The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as Belker's family surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for the last time, that I wondered if he understood what was going on. Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away.

The little boy seemed to accept Belker's transition without any difficulty or confusion. We sat together for a while after Belker's Death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that animal lives are shorter than human lives.

Shane, who had been listening quietly, piped up, "I know why."

Startled, we all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next stunned me. I'd never heard a more comforting explanation. It has changed the way I try and live.

He said, "People are born so that they can learn how to live a good life, like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?"

The Six-year-old continued, "Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don't have to stay as long."

  • Live simply.
  • Love generously.
  • Care deeply.
  • Speak kindly.
Remember, if a dog was the teacher you would learn things like:
  1. When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
  2. Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.
  3. Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure Ecstasy.
  4. Take naps.
  5. Stretch before rising.
  6. Run, romp, and play daily.
  7. Thrive on attention and let people touch you.
  8. Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
  9. On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.
  10. On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.
  11. When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.
  12. Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
  13. Be loyal.
  14. Never pretend to be something you're not.
  15. If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.
  16. When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by, and nuzzle them gently.
Take care and be well.

Live a Life that Matters

I WANT HAPPINESS
Take away your selfishness - I
Take away your desire - WANT
What are you left with?

Ready or not, some day it will all come to an end.
There will be no more sunrises, no minutes, hours or days.
All the things you collected, whether treasured or forgotten, will pass to someone else.
Your wealth, fame and temporal power will shrivel to irrelevance.
It will not matter what you owned or what you owed.
Your grudges, resentments, frustrations, and jealousies will finally disappear.
So, too, your hopes, ambitions, plans and to-do lists will expire.
The wins and losses that once seemed so important will fade away.
It won't matter where you came from.
It won't matter whether you are beautiful or brilliant.
Even your gender and skin colour will be irrelevant.

So what will matter?

What will matter us not what you bought, but what you built.
Not what you got but what you gave.
What will matter is not your success, but your significance.
What will matter us not what you learned, but what you taught.
What will matter is every act of integrity, compassion and courage,
or sacrifice that enriched, empowered or encouraged others to emulate your example.
What will matter is not your competence, but your character.
What will matter is not how many people you knew,
but how many will feel the lasting loss when you are gone.
What will matter is not your memories,
but the memories that live on in those who loved you.
What will matter is how long you will be remembered and for what.

Living a life that matters does not happen by accident,
It happens by choice.

Take care and be well.

Movies

The two movies this year winning the most Oscars at the Academy were Hugo and The Artist.

I have not seen The Artist yet as it is not shown at the cinemas at the moment and not available at my favorite DVD shop yet.

I did however manage to watch Hugo which I had bought from the DVD shop because I doubt these sort of movies will come here anytime soon.

Anyways, both movies are coincidentally about old Hollywood movies. Hugo takes us back to Hollywood golden silent moving picture era through a young boy and the Artist, a silent movie that shows the life of a silent movie actor who looses out when voice comes in.

I truly enjoyed Hugo, it was motivational and quite heartwarming.

By the way, I also go to the cinemas and not just watch DVDs. Over the weekend, I went to watch The Lorax with wifey. It's a Dr Seuss based story about environmental issues about this town living in Plastic, with everything Plastic including trees etc because real trees were harvested for other purposes.

Why am I blogging about this? Maybe I really do not know what to blog about.

But maybe, movies after a hundred years are really succeeding to make people think more, imagine more and hope more.

Movies help me to just put some of my worries aside and fantasize and hope for a better tomorrow.

Take my mind off from the racism in this country where a blatantly racist question appears in a high school history book, where a state agriculture minister officially writes for aid to a blind man to be removed because the blind man voted opposition and where the government continues to hoodwink us with one issue or another including telling us Lynas is good.

The PM said the wasted should be sent far far away from the plant. I have a suggestion, let's send it to his personal home in Pekan and Damansara Heights (note I did not say Putra Perdana because that is the official PM residence and he should be kicked out anytime soon).

Anyway, movies, take me away from this to relax my mind. It takes me away from work. Takes me away from the "wonderful" immediate family members who are such a "joy and blessing" in my life (wifey excluded as she is truly a blessing in my life despite our ups and downs).

And it takes away from all the thoughts of all the "wonderful friends" who are so good that you do not have to worry about enemies or someone stabbing you in the back, just keep an eye on your friends.

But hey, movies are wonderful. One day, I will write a novel, a book, a story that someone will make into a screenplay and hopefully become an award winning movie or play.

Until then, I will keep musing.

Take care and be well.

Simple rules - Go, Ask, Move forward

Does not need further elaboration.

If you do not GO AFTER what you want, you will never have it (you cannot have what you do not seek and go for).

If you do not ASK, the answer will always be NO (as there will not be an answer at all).

If you do not STEP FORWARD, you will always be in the same place (cause you would not have moved at all).

Take care and be well.

The oxymoron of nothing

A verb, from the Latin verbum meaning word, is a word (part of speech) that in syntax conveys an action (bring, read, walk, run, learn), an occurrence (happen, become), or a state of being (be, exist, stand). In the usual description of English, the basic form, with or without the particle to, is the infinitive. In many languages, verbs are inflected (modified in form) to encode tense, aspect, mood and voice. A verb may also agree with the person, gender, and/or number of some of its arguments, such as its subject, or object.

Nothingness is the state of being nothing, the state of nonexistence of anything, or the property of having nothing.

So, technically, nothing is a verb and thus conveys an action or a state of being, a state of being nothing.

Getting confused?

Nothing is an action, so even when doing nothing, in actual fact, you are doing something, you are being in a state of nothing.

Oxymoron enough for you?

Let's do nothing.

Take care and be well.

Leaped a month in a leap year

Wow, no blog in February, I guess I leaped a month in this leap year. 2012.

I was playing hide and seek but nobody was seeking.

We just went through 21.02.2012 but the world is still here. Oh wait, that was supposed to be 20.12.2012 or was it?

When does the world end anyways? Will we have a choice in the matter? Will we just disappear on the leap year like my blog did in February?

The dinosaurs did not seem to have much choice. Did they get wiped out suddenly or over a period of time? Maybe they caught the bird flu or H1N1 or H1N5 or some virus that wiped them out over the year.

Or perhaps some asteroid hit the world and wiped them out, but where is the hole?

Most likely, some supreme power decided hey, these is no fun anymore, lets start clean again.

Maybe 100 million years or shorter from now, some type of animal will be excavating dinosaurs and humans and would be wondering the same thing.

Ramblings and musings.

Why are humans so offended when I say we are all animals? That's what I learned in science, we all come from animal kingdom. Would you rather I call you a plant or a element?

So many things have been going in in Malaysia, in the place I work, at home, in my life yet what would really matter.

Sometimes you feel like hiding but like the picture about, maybe nobody would seek you anyways.

But in all honesty, there is nothing like living in Malaysia, it's fun with cowgate, rosmahgate, ringate, berkingate, pasgate, unmogate, anwargate .... it seems if you add a gate at the end of anything, it becomes a scandal.

Off course all this starts from Watergate Hotel which a few of you will remember but it was a scandal that brought down a popular US President named Nixon.

Some may remember Nixon, but what was his full name? Don't google it, can you remember? What about his middle name? A famous Simpsons cartoon character is named after his middle name and no, it is not Bart.

Coincidentally, his initials RM are also the same as our self appointed FLOM. Hmm, no wonder so many scandals, so many RMgates.

Wonder who is the boss?

Take care and be well.
