One of the conversations over lunch yesterday at Deli Pappa . . . .
I asked, "What's the deal or fascination in Miri with the seahorses?"
Ever wondered, why sea horse, why two of them, why in Miri?
We have seahorse roundabouts, seahorse lighthouse, seahorse this and seahorse that.
Then Mack mentioned that they are Miri mascots.
Yes, mascots, you got that right . . . Miri mascots and they have names.
And their names are..... (drum roll) .... Mi Mi and Ri Ri.
The Beijing Olympics 2008 actually got the idea of their 5 mascots from Miri's very own 2 mascots Mi Mi and Ri Ri and named them accordingly Bei Bei, Jing Jing, Huang Huang, Ying Ying and Ni Ni which means Beijing Welcomes You.
There you have it.
Maybe Mi Mi and Ri Ri will have kids and we can name them Res Res, Ort Ort, Ci Ci, Ty Ty . . . get it?
