About Me

I have done a lot of things in my life and have also worked in many different jobs to make a living and to experience life. This blog is just some of my musings, sometimes funny, sometimes inspirational, sometimes sad, sometimes angry, sometimes simple but all the time, it's just me.

Breathe in, breathe out

One who cannot forgive others
destroys the bridge over which he himself must pass.

One who is devoid of the power to forgive
is devoid of the power to love.

When you hold resentment toward another,
you are bound to that person by an emotional link that is stronger than steel.
Forgiveness is the only way to dissolve that link and set yourself free.
To forgive is to set a prisoner free and discover that the prisoner was you.

God's love for us is like the vast deep Ocean and often unexplored. We normally are just splashing around on the surface when He has offered us a whole other level of depth.

Our sins, faults and failures don't go away because in the rut of our lives, we keep suppressing our mistakes and cling on to denial rather than just confess and move on.

The key to how we leave this world comes down to how we experience forgiveness. If you only had one month to live, what would you ask forgiveness for, from whom and whom would you need to forgive?

Breathe in forgiveness, breathe out bitterness.

Forgive our debts, as we have also forgiven our debtors.

If your try to live without forgiving, you will not survive. We will drown in the bitterness and the deeper we will be crushed by the ocean of resentment and more stress and hurt and pressure will mound. Eventually, everything you love, have joy in will be crushed.

Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold. If you take anger into the second day, anger morphs into bitterness and if you do not breathe out the resentment and bitterness, you will eventually explode.

So breathe in forgiveness and breathe out resentment, bitterness and anger.

Until we all experience the fullness of God's grace and forgiveness, we will never be able to forgive others. We'll never be at peace and see the vision God has for us in our lives.

Forgiveness is not about pretending we aren't really heard. That is being naive. A stupid person will not forgive nor forget, a naive person will forgive and forget but a smart person will forgive and not forget.

Forgiveness is not about forgetting, it is not making light of the offence nor is it a shallow experience.

Forgiveness is about diving into the deepest trenches of the ocean of honesty and truthfully saying, "What you did hurt me deeply, but I choose to forgive you by God's power and grace."

Forgiveness is about diving into the deep trenches of God's ocean of love and experiencing His love as it washes away our sins, guilt, resentment, anger and bitterness.

In recent times, I have  been reading Nelson Mandela's books. Nelson Mandela moves me. He has been a role model in regards to forgiveness. If you have not seen or read any of his works, please do. If you are one of those that cannot read long books, then I recommend you watch one the most wonderful movies I have seen about him recently which was Invictus where Morgan Freeman plays an excellent Madiba. Click on the link here to watch a brief clip of the movie where the Victorian poem which inspired Mandela while he was in Robben Island prison and he used to inspire then South African rugby team captain Francois Pienaar.

Today, I am making a list of people I need to forgive, I will write what they did to hurt me. I am also writing down the people that I need to seek forgiveness and describe how I have hurt these people. I will make my confession to my guardian and God and ask the power and love from Him to forgive me and so that His forgiveness will enable me to forgive others.

I am also writing another letter to God to tell him things that I am angry about and I will ask for my heart to be healed as I tear up the letter.

And as a reminder of God's ocean of love and ocean of forgiveness, a wonderful picture below to remind me of the magic.

Breathe in forgiveness, breathe out resentment, bitterness, anger. The beauty and vastness of God's ocean of love and forgiveness beckons me today.

Take care and be well.
