About Me

I have done a lot of things in my life and have also worked in many different jobs to make a living and to experience life. This blog is just some of my musings, sometimes funny, sometimes inspirational, sometimes sad, sometimes angry, sometimes simple but all the time, it's just me.

Quite quick quips for Christmas and New Year

This is just going to be quite a quick quiet quip.

A quip is clever, witty remark often prompted by the occasion.

Many a times wifey says that I always have a quick wit about me. Well, most of the quite quick quips below are not entirely from me but since Christmas and New Year is coming up soon, it's about these two wonderful occasions. While these two occasions are wonderful, there is a extra special occasion falling in between these tow right after boxing day.

Anyways, Christmas is about the birth of Jesus and his love for mankind. Imagine, God’s Grace is hard enough to understand, I don’t want to imagine the “wrath of God”.

Once again we find ourselves enmeshed in the Holiday Season, that very special time of year when we join with our loved ones in sharing centuries-old traditions such as trying to find a parking space at the mall. We traditionally do this in my family by driving around the parking lot until we see a shopper emerge from the mall, then we follow her, in very much the same spirit as the Three Wise Men, who 2,000 years ago followed a star, week after week, until it led them to a parking space.

Christmas at my house is always at least six or seven times more pleasant than anywhere else. We start drinking early. And while everyone else is seeing only one Santa Claus, we'll be seeing six or seven.

The Supreme Court has ruled that they cannot have a nativity scene in Washington, D.C. This wasn't for any religious reasons. They couldn't find three wise men and a virgin.

Oh look, yet another Christmas TV special! How touching to have the meaning of Christmas brought to us by cola, fast food, and beer... Who'd have ever guessed that product consumption, popular entertainment, and spirituality would mix so harmoniously?

Santa Claus has the right idea. Visit people once a year.

But in all honesty, Christmas waves a magic wand over this world, and behold, everything is softer and more beautiful.

So wishing all my friends and readers a Blessed and Magical Christmas.

An optimist stays up until midnight to see the New Year in. A pessimist stays up to make sure the old year leaves.

Making resolutions is a cleansing ritual of self assessment and repentance that demands personal honesty and, ultimately, reinforces humility. Breaking them is part of the cycle.

He who breaks a resolution is a weakling; He who makes one is a fool.

Good resolutions are simply checks that men draw on a bank where they have no account.

My lil furry boy Al E's resolution is, "I will not chase that ball unless I actually see it leave his hand!"

Oh well, I'm a little bit older, a little bit wiser, a little bit rounder, but still none the wiser.

Have a Merry New Year, uncork that champagne and take a swig to my health and continued blogging.

Take care and be well.

AAh Nils, a wonderful year of wonderful insightful writing from you. Thank you. Your posts always, but more so in recent weeks, have left me with food for thought. And any writing that makes me stop and pause for a second to ponder it's meaning is, in my opinion, successful writing. LIKE YOURS.

happy end of year! Merry X'mas to the wife and doggy. Got a tree? We do, and Sparky has put some presents under the tree already. seriously.

Bal.
